About Us

Alex started teaching physical education in secondary schools in 2009. He has led a department and coordinated the extra-curricular sports provision in another department. Alex has delivered GCSE PE, BTEC Sport and Cambridge Nationals Sports Studies qualifications and he has mentored NQT’s and new members of staff who were training to be physical education teachers. Alex has also taught physical education in independent, special and PRU schools. In 2011 he lived in Sydney and taught physical education in primary schools and coached football for a successful club. Alex is now teaching, mainly, in primary schools helping them to improve the quality of physical education, school sport and physical activity (PESSPA).

He has a degree in Sport Studies with Psychology and he completed his PGCE in Physical Education at Loughborough University. His interests have always been mainly in sport and he has played at different levels from county to non-competitive. He still plays squash and cricket competitively along with a number of sports in his recreation time. He tries to follow the England cricket team and Derby County F.C. around his career and family commitments.

Alex’s ethos is that PESSPA helps all young people to become responsible citizens as well as promoting teamwork, leadership and communication skills in addition to performance skills. Young people should experience a wide range of activities, taught in a variety of ways that encourage continued interest. He considers enjoyment and the education of the benefits that sport can provide are particularly important for young people reaching secondary school and further education.
